Her efforts resulted in the office continuing to seek insurance approval, with a tentative reschedule for the following week. Beth’s unwavering support ensured that the patient and her family left feeling hopeful and satisfied.
I am honored to nominate Beth Boston for the DAISY Award. Since joining our Pre-op team in January, Beth has proven to be an invaluable asset. When our long-standing charge nurse retired this fall, Beth seamlessly stepped into the role, handling all responsibilities with exceptional skill and without complaint. Her meticulous attention to detail, such as checking charts for the following day before her shift ends, has significantly reduced same-day cancellations. Her dedication was recently recognized by the operating room clinical supervisor, who nominated her for an LOC due to her outstanding ability to maintain patient flow, ensuring timely readiness without operating room delays.
Beth’s commitment to patient care is truly remarkable. Recently, a patient scheduled for an outpatient procedure arrived alone, without anyone to take him home post-surgery. Despite the anesthesia guidelines requiring a responsible adult to be present at discharge, the patient insisted he had no one. Beth’s persistence and compassionate communication led to finding the patient’s preacher, who agreed to take responsibility. Thanks to Beth’s efforts, the patient underwent the necessary procedure without complications, avoiding potential severe health issues like sepsis and renal failure.
Another instance showcasing Beth’s dedication occurred this week when a patient arrived for knee surgery, only to find it had been canceled due to insurance issues. The patient had made significant personal arrangements, including taking a leave of absence and having her father travel from Tennessee. Beth took the patient and her husband into a private room to address the issue. She contacted the office, advocated for the patient, and spent an hour working towards a solution. Her efforts resulted in the office continuing to seek insurance approval, with a tentative reschedule for the following week. Beth’s unwavering support ensured that the patient and her family left feeling hopeful and satisfied.
Beth’s exceptional dedication, problem-solving skills, and compassionate care make her a standout nurse who truly deserves recognition. Her willingness to go above and beyond, taking on challenges that others might pass off, has made a significant positive impact on our team and our patients. I am thrilled to have her on our team.
