I was pregnant with a little boy whom I decided to place for adoption. It was an extremely heartbreaking choice for me. I was scheduled to be induced. Beth Deida was my nurse for my labor and delivery. She did not leave my side. She helped me create safe words if it was too much and she needed to clear out the room. She held my hand. Listened to my story. Not once passing judgment. Only compassion and understanding. She stayed by my side through the whole process. I felt she was the only person who was truly concerned about my well-being. To have to choose to say goodbye to my son, whom I wanted so badly, was devastating. I felt alone. Beth truly treated me as a human being who needed love and support. That was so pivotal for me during that time. I will never forget her dedication to me during that season of life. She didn’t have to stay and listen to my story. She certainly could have passed judgment on me and done the bare minimum. But she chose to be my advocate and help me during the worst time in my life. I will forever be thankful for her and the part she played in my life. She created a safe place for me. She became my support system when I didn’t have anyone else. She advocated for me. She shared my heartbreak so I didn’t have to be isolated and alone.
