Beth is one of four nurses I am nominating for this award. I am the mom of a son who is on day four in the hospital.
Beth is outgoing, energetic, funny, knowledgeable and comforting. Perhaps because she has a son that is my son's age, she really connected with her patient. Beth is a strong advocate for a patient but she is also a tremendous support for the family.
My son's comment of, "Oh mom, she's the best!" was echoed by his wife.
Beth was the night nurse the night our son had to go into surgery around midnight.
From my son and his wife:
When Beth walked into the room on our worst night here, she greeted us, she smiled, she was happy, she was professional but still a helping hand. She asked for help when she needed it with a fussy machine. She took things slowly and deliberately, never flustered. Beth spoke to my husband, not at him. She didn't just say "take this pill". She never made my husband feel like a bother. Every question he asked was important to her. She was awesome!
Beth talks with her patients and works with her patients to make sure they know she is on their team.
