Bethany is currently completing her Leadership Clinical that I am overseeing. One concern on the unit was low staff morale. Bethany worked with the staff to develop a new floor mission statement. Multiple options were drafted and the staff were allowed to vote for the option they liked best. In addition to this new mission, ideas for recognition were suggested, such as birthday acknowledgment and a corner in the breakroom devoted to staff recognizing one another. It was also suggested that inspirational words be put in the breakroom for more of an encouraging environment. Bethany presented her research to the unit manager she had been working with. The hospital CNO was presented and invited Bethany to present this again at a hospital-wide meeting. The CNO noted that she could present but requested Bethany present as it was her research, noting she would have more passion in the presentation.
