Bobby was recently taking care of a patient with an anoxic brain injury who was having difficulty in maintaining his airway. She spoke with the pulmonary physician who ordered a bipap. However, Bobby was still concerned about the patient and involved respiratory and the charge nurse. She then notified the attending physician about her concerns that the patient needed a higher level of care. The MD ordered the patient to transfer to the IMU. During the transfer, the pt went into V-tach; code was initiated as the team arrived to the 6th floor. The patient survived the code and was transferred to ICU. Bobby's good assessment and critical thinking skills were crucial in this patient's care. Her tenacity to speak up for the patient will always give the patient the best chance for a better outcome.
