Brandi not only took care of her physical body; she took time to pray with her and cry with her as well. Sometimes we just need someone to listen.
Brandi always goes above and beyond, not only for her patients but for her co-workers as well. At the beginning of February, a dear friend of mine was diagnosed with cancer. Brandi was one of her nurses. Her husband wanted to nominate her for taking care of his wife, J. He gave me permission to use her name because he wants her story told. I had talked with J on the phone and she could not tell me enough about how Brandi had helped her. She not only took care of her physical body; she took time to pray with her and cry with her as well. Sometimes we just need someone to listen. Days had passed after J’s discharge and I had spoken with J’s husband. He asked if I could give him Brandi’s phone number because they just wanted to say, “Thank You”. I told him that I could not give out Brandi’s number but that I would give Brandi their number. I passed the message to Brandi and she reached out to them immediately via text and they were able to keep in touch. Brandi continued to send them encouraging words. J sent me a text that stated, “Every nurse that I had at Walker was awesome. I felt as if they truly cared about me and not just as a job, but as a person. I was/am scared and they comforted me. Brandi was the icing on the cake. I am thankful to have met them all.” J passed away shortly thereafter. We are all so thankful and grateful for the blessing Brandi bestowed on J and her family before she passed away. J and her husband are a part of my church family but Brandi had no clue of this detail when she was caring for them. I, personally, am thankful that God placed such a loving and caring nurse/person in our paths.
