Brandy Hirsch went to do a start of care on a patient and the patient was stuck on the commode and had been there for hours. The patient lived alone and the squad had already been out to help her up after she fell earlier in the day. Brandy stayed with the patient until the squad arrived and helped the patient to a recliner. After talking with the patient, the patient stated she used to be on palliative care but it was now out of network with her insurance. The patient stated she thought palliative care would be a better option for her.
Brandy called several different hospices and palliative care companies until she found one that could come out the same day to get the patient set up with services. She also called family members and friends of the patient until she found someone who could come over and sit with the patient. Brandy stayed with the patient for an hour until a friend came over to sit with the patient so the patient would not be left alone. During that time Brandy got her something to drink and made her something to eat. Brandy always goes above and beyond and is a very caring nurse.
