As a medical student, going to the OR is incredibly intimidating, and you can feel dreadfully alone without any direction. The attending and the residents are incredibly busy and do not have much time to spend teaching practical skills or how to conduct ourselves in the OR. Brenda Falzone was the most helpful and caring individual you could meet in the surgical department. She knows the look of a medical student who's quietly in the corner without any direction, and she will go out of her way to make you feel included in the surgery. I have talked to other medical students about their surgical experience, and the same person is brought up at Mainland every time. Brenda is loved by all the students because she is inclusive and loves teaching students new skills like patient positioning or other basic things that every student should know. I appreciate her dedication to her job and the way she constantly thinks of the patient first, which is inspiring to anyone who meets her. Her dedication to both patient care and medical education is truly commendable, and she plays a vital role in shaping the next generation of healthcare providers. Brenda consistently goes above and beyond to ensure that both patients and students receive the best possible care and guidance. She is a true example of excellence in nursing.
