Brenda was pleasant, soft-spoken, and presented herself with confidence. Brenda was supportive, which was very important when my normal support is sitting in the car out in the parking lot during the days of COVID-19.
I arrived for a scheduled surgery—the Vertiflex Superion procedure. My husband and I drove approximately 100 miles to Baylor Surgical Fort Worth. I had been in severe pain for several days prior to the surgery with Tylenol as my only relief from pain. When we arrived I knew I would no longer have the strength or pain tolerance anymore to walk. The police officer was very kind and instructed a young man to go and bring a wheelchair. The young man gently took me through the front doors to the front desk. I appreciate the gentle thoughtfulness and care he took going over the threshold of the doors. When you're in that kind of pain, every movement is painful. The young lady in the admissions office was kind, friendly, and pleasant. When I finished signing the last of the paperwork, she pushed me in my wheelchair over to the surgery waiting area.
Here, Brenda arrived within 1-2 minutes and introduced herself. She informed me she would be my nurse for the rest of my stay. Brenda was pleasant, soft-spoken, and presented herself with confidence. Brenda was supportive, which was very important when my normal support is sitting in the car out in the parking lot during the days of COVID-19. Brenda's compassion and quick response to my complaint of nausea from the pain I was experiencing prior to surgery was greatly appreciated. She delivered medication to relieve me of the nausea. Brenda stayed close to my bedside since I was no longer able to recline in bed comfortably and had to sit on the side of the bed. I don't remember how long my post-op care really was but I think I was the last patient to leave for the day. My recovery may have caused some after-hours work. Thank you, Brenda, and all those who cared for me.
