A woman was worried about a pain her husband had been experiencing in his leg. She called the Nurse Advice Line in Menomonie for help when she was unable to schedule an appointment with his regular family doctor at another location. Brenda spoke with the woman on the telephone regarding the husband's symptoms. Brenda worried he had a fracture in his leg. Within minutes, Brenda had scheduled an appointment to address the pain and avoid further complications. An MRI was performed during the appointment, and it was found he had been walking on a broken leg for more than a week.
Brenda's attention to detail and excellent patient care was recognized with the first DAISY Award at a Red Cedar location.
"Receiving the DAISY Award was an honor," says Brenda. "I decided to go into nursing so I could make a positive impact on the lives of patients and their loved ones. This was confirmation that we, as nurses, do just that."
