Recently, we had a new hire who came in for their new hire physical. While Brent was checking his blood pressure he discovered that it was very high, too high to not be concerned (178/128). This individual had no health insurance and Brent was considering walking him down to our ER to be checked out. The individual was concerned as well and was not aware of his high blood pressure condition or on any medication. Brent decided to sit down with him in a quiet family waiting room on the 3rd floor to get him relaxed before taking him to the ER. He spent some time talking with him, making him feel a bit more at ease and then checked his blood pressure again before leaving the room. It was 138/106, considerably lower. The new hire opted to make an appointment with a doctor and get treated for hypertension and did not have to be seen in our ER. What Brent did that day was above and beyond. The individual felt important and considered this to be a blessing in disguise.
Brent is a valued employee of Summit Healthcare and often the first person that our new hires meet. He does a great job at demonstrating our SHINE behavior standards to our new hires and employees of Summit Healthcare.
