Brent will take the time to explain to a patient why he has come to their bedside in an RRT call - he is there because their nurse needs his assistance while they are having an acute upside of pain/bleeding/respiratory distress, or whatever acute episode they are having. If the family is present, Brent gives time and attention to the family often at a time when there is a change in status that may mean comfort care should be offered rather than more of "the same and more invasive procedures." Brent takes time to help and teach nurses at the bedside. Having come from a teaching hospital and still in school he shares his knowledge and experiences in a way that makes staff glad that he is there. He shares and does not talk down.
