Brian brings positive vibes and joy to the operating room each day just with his presence. He’s very approachable and understanding. He makes me want to come to work every day.
Brian knows how to make a stressful work environment less stressful. He is extremely fair. He also raises the staff’s morale around the whole unit. It is such a breath of fresh air when we see him in charge.

Whenever I have a question or a problem, he is always there to help and quick to find solutions. He’s the best manager I’ve ever had in my nursing career. He’s a true definition of a leader, and I truly believe he deserves to be honored as a DAISY Nurse Leader.

Brian is a great communicator, and the staff all love his work ethic. Very calming presence under pressure.

Brian is one of the nicest nurse leaders on this unit. He’s understanding, caring, and flexible. He goes above and beyond for his staff and the surgeons. I truly believe he is a DAISY Nurse Leader.

Although he is in management, he still speaks with us with care and respect. I feel he is a true listener and doesn’t take actions on his own selfish behalf or what benefits him at the moment. Instead, he makes his business go beyond expectations on behalf of others. There are so many stories of us having a hectic day attending surgeons with an additional case when we seem to not have enough staff. When there’s one staff person who needs to go home, whether it was due to a determined early leave for an appt, the mom having to leave to pick up the child from school, or when I threw up from a terrible migraine. While we may have been accustomed to management making excuses or saying it’s impossible to help, Brian does not. I have witnessed Brian open extra rooms for doctors while still accommodating staff, always working in a peaceful manner. We are always happy to repay the respect he gives us. He understands if an emergency arises and will come into the room and assist. He is honest and straightforward. He is always willing to help, from environmental services workers to attending Surgeons. If there is a nurse who deserves recognition, it is Brian! Brian has worked different shifts and in different specialties, empowering him to be the knowledgeable person he is and to understand the process of our work. Although he may not be cared for much by his peers, we, the people, love him.
