I was transferred from Marietta Memorial to O'Bleness in Athens. This was a difficult experience and time for me, and still is, as I came for sexual assault. It isn't the first time, or even 2nd in the past 6 months. A lot of people made me feel as if this was my fault because I chose to meet up with these men. Bri never once made me feel at fault. She did her best to ensure that I was comfortable, and explained every step in detail. She talked me through everything, including offering support during the exam with the doctor. She let me cry without feeling stupid or like a burden, she let me talk without judgement; and she listened. When it came to talking to her about the events that happened, and I didn't want to continue to read over my story, she asked if I was sure, but didn't judge me when I told her I didn't want to, as I was crying. When it came to transportation back, she was working diligently to ensure some way back. Even when I was crying, being difficult, and wanting to leave, she gently told me she couldn't just let me walk home in 20 degree weather, and offered further solutions in the morning, while still working to figure out any other solution. She checked on me often, made sure I had everything I needed, and was always kind and respectful, even when I wasn't personally being the easiest to deal with. In a difficult time, respect and support meant a lot.
