This delightful individual provided the utmost compassionate care with true empathy.
I was recently a patient at BMC. While there, Brianna attended to me. This delightful individual provided the utmost compassionate care with true empathy. As a practicing surgeon and physician with many years of experience, I have had the opportunity to work with hundreds of nurses. In general, Bassett has always had excellent nurses. Rarely do I see one who stands out amongst their peers to the degree that this individual does. This individual not only provided compassionate care with her soothing demeanor, which helped to ease my wife’s apprehension and worry about my scheduled procedure but also provided updates to us on the flow of patient traffic. My procedure time was delayed by about 3.25 hours due to unforeseen emergencies they had to deal with before attending to me. We marveled at Brianna's excellent communication skills, which allowed us to understand the unexpected delay. While other nurses would walk by inattentive to a patient lying on a gurney for prolonged periods of time, this “Florence Nightingale” would immediately offer and avail her assistance to the other patients who were in need. I believe this great spirit of providing complete care for her patients transcends from her previous ICU experience. Make no mistake about it: this individual is a highly skilled RN who impressed me, a physician with over 30 years of experience. At the conclusion of my procedure, Brianna stayed beyond her scheduled work hours to ensure that I received the best possible care. I note that this individual possesses all the USAF core values: integrity first, service before self, and excellence in all we do. Therefore, not only do I praise this individual for her great care, but I strongly recommend that this individual be considered for the DAISY Award.
