Our son was admitted to the Neuroscience Unit after suffering a traumatic hit to the face during a soccer game. The injury left Michael with an ocular fracture, multiple facial fractures, and traumatic pneumocephalus. We were terrified and overwhelmed as we rushed from hospital to hospital, but from the moment we arrived, we were greeted with the utmost care and compassion. M’s nurse, Brianne, was the epitome of what nursing should be. Her blend of professionalism, empathy, and humor helped ease our anxieties in such a dark time. She went above and beyond to make sure M was comfortable, even as she navigated his complex medical needs. Her knowledge was evident in every interaction, but it was her warmth and personal connection with our son that made the biggest impact on our family.

One moment that stands out was when M had been eagerly waiting for his post-operative Chick-fil-A cookies & cream shake, but due to a delivery mix-up, it wasn’t delivered. Brianne, sensing his disappointment, took it upon herself to search two other units for vanilla ice cream just so she could make it herself. This simple act of kindness brought a smile to M's face when he needed it most, and it meant the world to us. We are truly and deeply grateful for Brianne's unwavering compassion and the genuine care she provided for our son. Her dedication to her patients is something we will never forget, and we will forever appreciate the support we received during such a trying time in our lives. Thank you, Brianne.
