It is very hard when a child loses their life. It is even harder when it is a close friend or family member who goes through such a tragedy. When my friend lost her little girl, the tragic event touched everyone involved with overwhelming sadness. Throughout their grief, however, my friends never once expressed anger. Even though a huge hole was left in their heart, they made it a point to say how compassionate, warm and caring the care was that they received at DCH. At the funeral, a specific nurse was even mentioned, Brittany DuBro. They spoke of her and how she went above and beyond; switched her schedule around to be sure the family and their daughter had consistent care. She even stayed over her shift to show compassionate care for her mother while the child was with the organ donation team. The family truly appreciated her during this very tragic and heartbreaking time. Brittany was a little sunshine amongst the very dark storms. I was and am very proud to be able to say that I work amongst wonderful people like this.
