I met the sweetest, kindest, considerate and compassionate RN, Brittany Lady. Her genuine love for her job was shown throughout her shift. Every request my brother had was met with a smile that lit up the room. Happy, compassionate… all the qualities that make her the best RN here in my opinion.
I already liked Brittany, but when my brother said his throat was so sore she rushed to get him ice and a few other things, but they weren't helping. He was so uncomfortable; she gave him all she could. He hadn't really conveyed just how bad he felt. He told her his throat "kinda" hurt, but she accommodated his rather quiet request with top priority. When I came out and told her just how much he was hurting she acted like a mother to him, gently scolding him for not telling her, assuring and reassuring him and us that she is there to help us and to let her know about anything and everything. I know cough drops have to be considered a 'petty' thing to a doctor, but she was quick to answer and my brother had lozenges in no time.
In the morning I came over from the Hurst House (awesome) and as soon as he saw me he reached his hand out to me. He said he had such a horrible night but that once nurse Brittany arrived things improved. She is an angel!! She took such good care of him all night.
When a stranger becomes a mother to your loved one, you appreciate them. Brittany is still fairly new to this hospital but she should train brand new nurses to the field, teaching that the patient is to be treated like family. She made this unpleasant, painful surgery a pleasant experience.
