Brittany and my daughter than raced back to the scale, and she was able to make my daughter cooperate with getting her height and weight.
My daughter and I came in for a well-child check. Brittany was not the original person who got us from the lobby. There was a male nurse who called my daughter's name. For some reason, my daughter did not want to be with this nurse, and Brittany came out of her office to see if she could help. She very nicely sent the male away and took over my daughter's appointment. My daughter did not want to step on the scale or get her height measured. Brittany told her that was fine; they could just go back to the room. It was at this point that I saw Brittany's name tag, which said that she was the nursing supervisor. She stayed with us the whole time, talked to my daughter, who was 5, like her own person. Assisted in calming my daughter down and made as much of the visits as calming and fun for my daughter as she could.
When Brittany was done with all the questions, she looked at my daughter and said, "Okay, we do need to see how big you are. Do you think you can be brave enough to race me back to the black square? You even get to take your shoes off so you can be faster than me." Brittany told everyone to clear the hallway, and she even noticed that the male nurse was sitting outside the room. She told him to leave so as not to upset her again. Brittany and my daughter than raced back to the scale, and she was able to make my daughter cooperate with getting her height and weight. Brittany then raced back to the room, and at this point, she told me that the provider would be in.
Brittany then came back with two other female nurses to give my daughter her shots. She assisted in putting her in a comfortable position, walking her and me through the whole process, and brought my daughter a treat bag for after. My daughter may not have stood out to Brittany, but Brittany stood out to my daughter. Brittany handled my daughter's meltdowns with ease and grace, and my daughter asked that every time we have to go, Brittany could be with us.
Brittany, I hope you see this. You made our appointment much less stressful, and we thank you for everything. I'm sure you have many things going on as a supervisor, but you came out and helped us and your employees. I hope they realize how lucky they are to have you, as not all managers would be willing to do that.
