What truly sets Brittnie apart is her unwavering empathy and genuine kindness. She took the time to listen, explain the plan of care for her shift, and to answer all of our questions, always making sure I felt informed and cared for, as well as my husband.
I am honored to nominate Brittnie Harvey, RN for the DAISY Award in recognition of her exceptional care, dedication, and compassion as an ICU nurse. My husband was hospitalized for hyponatremia. He was very anxious about me not being able to stay with him after visiting hours. From the moment my husband entered the ICU, Brittnie went above and beyond in not only providing the highest standard of clinical care but also ensuring comfort and support during an incredibly challenging time.
What truly sets Brittnie apart is her unwavering empathy and genuine kindness. She took the time to listen, explain the plan of care for her shift, and to answer all of our questions, always making sure I felt informed and cared for, as well as my husband. Brittnie was quick to offer reassurance during moments of uncertainty, creating an environment where he felt safe and well-cared for, even in the most vulnerable moments. He was having Q2 hour labs around the clock. My husband wanted to make sure I knew what the sodium levels were at all times, Brittnie went above and beyond to make sure I was kept in the loop of communication by notifying me when the labs resulted.
In addition to her clinical expertise, Brittnie demonstrated outstanding teamwork, always coordinating seamlessly with the rest of the medical staff. She contacted the Nephrologist on call in the middle of the night to make sure we were all on the same page, that communication changed his plan of care. Her attention to detail, ability to anticipate patient needs, and calm demeanor under pressure were invaluable during his stay. It is very rare to encounter someone who combines technical skill with such an evident passion for patient care. Brittnie consistently went the extra mile, providing not only medical care but emotional support as well.
She truly embodies the essence of what it means to be a nurse, and I am deeply grateful for the care my husband received under her watch. For these reasons, I am proud to nominate Brittnie Harvey for the DAISY Award. She exemplifies the heart of nursing, and she made a profound difference in our experience during my ICU stay.
