Caitie Burroughs was the first person I interacted with on my first visit to get chemo. She was so patient with me and helped me every step of the way. She started by helping me decide what chair to sit in, explaining every drug she was giving me and how the entire process worked. She continually checked in with my husband and I throughout the entire duration. She was very caring and passionate about how we were doing. She spent the time taking care of me and was all about getting to know us. By the end of my first visit, I felt comfortable and at ease with the chemo process and the expectations going forward! This was because she was all about putting her patients first and making me feel like my care was her priority! On my way out that day, my husband and I stopped at the nurse station to tell the head nurse how great of an experience we had with her and how I would love to have her each Friday for my chemo treatment going forward! I couldn’t wait to tell my family and friends how well my first chemo treatment went with her taking me under her wing. Every week after chemo, I update my family and friends on how I am doing with a selfie that captures my chemo partner, Nurse Caitie, and myself! She is always a part of this update on how well she treats me like a queen! My daughter, from DC, went to my chemo treatment when she was home for Mother’s Day, and she was very impressed with her. Every other week, my daughter facetimes me during my chemo treatments to check in not only with me but to see our favorite nurse. I have completed my first round of 12 treatments, and two in my second round have been doing great! She has definitely made a huge impact on my positivity and my outlook on making it to the finish line. My family and I are so thankful she is a part of my cancer journey. Thank you, Nurse Caitie, for all you do to positively impact the lives of your cancer patients! You are absolutely amazing!
