My family still talks about her kindness and compassion almost a year later.
Last August, my uncle unexpectedly passed away. He had what we believe was a STEMI and was found down in his front yard while mowing the lawn. He was then taken to CCF Avon and flown to Main Campus. That is where my family and I were introduced to Caitlin. She was a shining light through a tough time. Even though she knew the prognosis was very poor, and there was ultimately no brain activity, she still took the time and treated him with dignity and respect as though he were fully alert.
She would speak to him and tell him everything she was doing. This truly made a difference for us, especially for my aunts and uncles who are not familiar with the medical world. My family still talks about her kindness and compassion almost a year later. I am also a nurse for CCF Critical Care Transport and have transferred a few patients to her care. Each time, she is positive and greets both our team and her patient with a smile on her face.
I know she would say "she is just doing her job," but she truly makes a difference in people's lives because she definitely had a positive impact on ours.
