Caitlin made a difficult situation so much better. I can't tell you how much I appreciated her and everything she did that day - it was just so hard.
I wanted to forward feedback from a patient regarding one of our amazing nurses, Caitlin Geringer. The patient, listed below, came in due to an alleged sexual assault. She was scared, attempting to keep calm, and periodically became understandingly emotional and overwhelmed. Nurse Geringer was professional, skilled, and compassionate. She provided information and the power of decision-making to the patient.
When I called today to check-in on the patient and make sure she was doing well, one of the first things she said was, "The nurse who was with me was amazing." "You can tell she really believes in and loves what she does." "She made a difficult situation so much better. I can't tell you how much I appreciated her and everything she did that day - it was just so hard."
The SANE nurses have a difficult job and being on call does not make it any easier. I don't know if they often hear back from those for whom they delivered care as these patients are so overwhelmed at the time the medical team meets them.
I wanted to pass this feedback along - what our ED / SANE nurses, do is recognized and appreciated by the most vulnerable during their most vulnerable times.
