Caitlyn was so eager to help me learn what I was trying to feel for, how to position the baby, and how to get my baby boy to latch. While I was asking a gazillion questions, she was the most supportive person, helping me accomplish a goal I had for myself.
I had a very traumatic emergency C-section that left me super nauseated and drowsy. My second night, my PICO dressing came loose and had to be redone. Caitlyn and another nurse both tag-teamed redressing my incision and went above and beyond to make me feel as safe and cared for as they possibly could. Caitlyn was an absolute god send helping me nurse my baby boy and keep him full and happy. She was always on top of bringing us my frozen colostrum when we needed it and had the best advice for latching. I wish everyone could have Caitlyn as their postpartum nurse. I was so sad to see them leave and elated when they returned for the night! I cannot say enough nice things and cannot wait to come visit them with my baby boy.

As a mother who had a rocky experience with her first child delivery, I was extremely scared and nervous about having my second child. I came into the hospital in extreme pain, my contractions less than a minute apart, and had my son in less than 30 minutes. After that crazy experience of my son coming into the world, he came out stunned completely. Caitlyn was very quick to get him and start checking him and helping him. As I am crying that all I wanted was my baby over and over she kept reassuring me he was safe and okay and to listen to him cry and as soon as she could she was able to begin skin to skin.
While doing skin to skin with my baby I was talking with Caitlyn and learning what happened and why he needed help, but something that shocked me was Caitlyn was my nurse 2.5 years ago with my first child at the hospital. Not only did she recognize me, but my family recognized her! She was amazing 2.5 years ago and is still beyond phenomenal now. I had never breastfed before- Caitlyn was so eager to help me learn what I was trying to feel for, how to position the baby, and how to get my baby boy to latch. While I was asking a gazillion questions, she was the most supportive person, helping me accomplish a goal I had for myself.
When moving to the post-partum side of everything, she was always checking on the baby and also checking on me even though her patient was the baby. The next night, I sadly didn’t have Caitlyn as my baby’s nurse, but that did not stop her from coming and checking on me at shift change, checking to see how his blood sugar was through the night, and even checking on me all night.
On my last night in the hospital, my baby was having a hard time breathing, feeding, and sleeping, and honestly, I felt so exhausted and was in tears because my baby’s stomach was upset, and he wasn’t pooping, and he was hungry but couldn’t eat from his tummy hurting. She came into my room and rubbed his tummy and did bicycles until he was able to poop. After that she was able to get him asleep and was able to notice I needed sleep and was hurting. She offered to take the baby and watch him so I could sleep for a couple hours and shower. As an overwhelmed mom, I was so appreciative.
The last incident that made Caitlyn stand out was while in the hospital, I had some unwanted visitors come to my room. When I made Caitlyn and another nurse aware of the situation, they helped me get them out of my room quickly and effortlessly. After everyone was out of my room, she came back and checked on me and asked me if I was in a safe situation and reassured me, I was okay and safe. I have appreciated having Caitlyn as my nurse not once but twice now, and she has been one of my favorite nurses!!
