While caring for a patient, Caleb demonstrated extreme compassion. The patient had come in for abdominal pain and was diagnosed with an advanced aggressive pancreatic cancer. Upon taking a history, Caleb discovered the patient has lost her husband 2 days prior. The family was present and decided on a DNR and to withdraw care. Then they left. As the patient prepared to leave this world, Caleb remained at her bedside, spoke to her, and held her hand. It was comforting to see a patient pass away in such a compassionate setting. Caleb stayed with the patient until the end to provide comfort without the presence of family. Caleb did it because he truly cared for this patient and wanted the best for her.
