During my mother-in-law’s stay in the ICU, Nurse Callie Hayes brightened everyone’s day. She provided exceptional care, and we considered her part of our family, requesting her to be our nurse as much as possible. She took the time to listen to my mother-in-law’s spoken and unspoken needs. She would engage with her even while she was intubated because she knew my mother-in-law could hear her. She placed great importance on ensuring mouth care was performed during intubations and that my mother-in-law was comfortably positioned.
