My father was in CCU at UF Health and Calvin was one of his nurses. However, describing Calvin as one of his nurses is such an inadequate description. The compassionate and high quality of care Calvin provided to my father was such that I can only describe it as being what I would consider the "platinum standard" of care. He conducted himself in a professional and also very caring manner. Calvin displayed great competence in his medical knowledge and abilities while attending my father's needs. He was able to use his knowledge of the situation to help relay information to our family in a manner that allowed us to grasp what was transpiring and therefor enabled us to make informed decisions with proper understanding.
Not only did Calvin provide medical treatment of the highest caliber to my father, he did so in a tender and gentle manner that allowed my father to retain his dignity and be more than just a patient. Anyone would be grateful to have their loved one treated with such respect and tenderness as Calvin did for my father.
Calvin's high level of nursing did not stop with the way in which he cared for my father; he was very comforting and supportive to the entire family. At a time when our family was so worried and in despair over my father's health, it was very reassuring each evening when Calvin came in to the room. His confidence and compassion left us knowing my Dad was receiving the highest quality of care.
It was during a truly dark hour in the lives of our family when we met Calvin and he was such a positive force that helped us all through a most difficult time. Had my father been able, he would have described Calvin as a blessing; and I agree. This letter does not fully describe the accolades Calvin is deserving of, but it has been my attempt to bring to the hospital's attention the caliber of professional they have in Calvin, with hope that he is recognized for the quality of care he provides to the patients and their families at UF Health.
