Camella even rubbed her back and applied pressure around her hip area while she was standing during contractions.
Camella was a total rock star during my daughter’s labor experience! She is an extraordinary nurse and a kind human. She was beyond respectful of my daughter, her boyfriend, and myself as grandma. She took the time to explain things to my daughter using cute analogies that were relatable to the average person who may not understand medical terminology.
Camella frequently checked on my daughter and often didn’t leave her side at all for extended periods. She highly encouraged my daughter that she could absolutely “do this” even when she may have felt like she couldn’t. Camella even rubbed her back and applied pressure around her hip area while she was standing during contractions. Camella was so patient with her and respected her wishes from start to finish.
During the labor process, Camella was called away for emergency surgery. Even during that, she took time to come in and explain to my daughter that she had to leave for some time and truly hoped to return to finish caring for her. This saddened my daughter as she felt like she was losing “her friend” but she of course understood. After some time had passed, we kept thinking Camella was not going to make it back. My daughter began progressing further in the contractions which resulted in her beginning to scream out loud. Next thing we know. Camella enters back into the room.
She stated, “I was about to go but then I heard her, and I just had to come to check on her,” We were so grateful to her for coming back. My daughter took Camella’s hand and told her she wasn’t allowed to leave until after the baby had been born. Camella graciously honored her wishes and didn’t leave her side again. She stayed past her shift to accommodate her needs. A gesture like that was so appreciated and heartfelt. Camella provided the type of care one could only dream of. We are thankful for meeting a nurse like her. Her caring touch was felt by all the hearts the night my granddaughter was born. Thank you for loving your job, Camella.
