I was admitted to RMH 1 year 4 months ago today. I was 28 years old and had just been diagnosed with a disease, bipolar disorder, that I suspected for years. I came to RMH in a very manic state. I had spent the last 24 hours having hallucinations and stayed very afraid for most of this time. I remember that the first person I saw when I woke up was Frank. I did not have many interactions with him over my 3-4 week stay but for the last couple of days, Frank was my nurse going into the evening. He did not spend the most time with me but he made the biggest impact on my stay and my state of mind. Frank spoke to me like a person, not just a patient. He was laid back and easy to talk to. He honestly made me feel somewhat normal in a time where I felt anything but. He reassured me that I was still a good person. I can think back to when he told me that and still feel emotional because I had so little faith in myself. Yet here I am today living out exactly what Frank thought of me that day. He is an excellent mental health provider and I know that he has changed the lives of so many. While I know that I am a good nurse, I hope to further my practice and one day be able to give to a patient in need the peace of mind that Frank was able to give me during the most difficult time of my life. Thank you so much! I am forever grateful.
