Candice routinely charges on 5N, and I have witnessed countless times where she went above and beyond for her team. Recently, during morning shift change, she realized we were not going to have as many nurses as she thought, and so the assignments would have to be changed, and extra patients added to each nurse. Instead of making her nurses take on additional patients after shift change and report had already been given, she took on those patients herself, in addition to her normal responsibilities as a charge nurse. She did this without complaining and without asking for recognition, but I feel like she deserves to be recognized for this act. I have been a nurse for several years, with many of those spent traveling, and I can say honestly that it is rare to see a charge nurses who truly lead by example. I was impressed by her work ethic and her dedication to helping this team succeed, even if it means making her job harder. She charges, takes care of patients, and volunteers as a Journey Worker on top of all that. She is such an inspiration!
