Cara was so kind, compassionate and caring. She demonstrated these characteristics throughout my husband’s stay. She provided a fan when my husband complained that he was hot and made sure he was comfortable as could be. She crushed his pain pills up and fed them to him even though I was right there. She provided a wet washcloth for his forehead all the while checking to make sure I was ok. She provided me clean linens and a toothbrush. Most importantly she answered our calls for help promptly. We never had to wait for Cara. She was there without hesitation or complaint. She assured my husband that things would get better and included me in every conversation.

During all the years of going to hospitals or Emergency Rooms, Cara is head and shoulders above any nurse we encountered. She made us feel like family and showed patience and compassion beyond belief. She ensured he had his pain medicine on time because he had a rough time swallowing since his disectomy. Even after we were to be discharged and he was no longer her patient, she asked me how he had done that day.

Cara is truly an asset to your hospital and I highly recommend her for the DAISY Award. I don’t know what I would have done without Cara that night. She demonstrated all the qualities of a great nurse but also a wonderful human being. When she turned my husband over to another nurse at the next shift she was professional, informative and concerned.
