I nominate Carlos Castro for a DAISY Award for his exceptional, compassionate care and for my uncle who recently passed away.
My uncle was hospitalized due to complications from his treatment of stage 4 esophageal cancer. Carlos went out of his way to provide him with the best care, but he also was a great friend to my uncle. When we arranged for a special presentation by the Lion’s Club one evening, Carlos attended even though he wasn’t on duty at that time.
My uncle passed away last week and Carlos attended the viewing. It was clear that he was mourning with the rest of us, and we were very touched. He frequently said that Carlos was “the best nurse I’ve had.”
I know how much my uncle, and our family, appreciated his care.
