Carmen embodies all the criteria that the DAISY Award is meant to encompass. She is an accomplished professional nurse who carries out her duties with exceptional professionalism, kindness, concern for patients and staff alike, while also managing her duties with the efficiency and stewardship to the Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital's Mission and Vision. As a circulating nurse in the OR she does her job with a high degree of competency, professionalism and grace. She is a role model because she leads by example for all others in her work ethic, interpersonal relationships and positive attitude. Carmen consistently and passionately leads by example. She is a patient and staff advocate. She is dedicated and committed to making the OR the best it can be. She demonstrates this with her ability to lead and motivate her team as a Charge and Staff nurse. She is a voice of reason and will also speak up when challenges arise. She will always give help where it's needed whether it's patient care, scheduling, charges or morale support for her peers.
