Carol took care of a very sick cancer patient recently who had to be admitted through our ER. This sweet lady was so sick, spoke no English, and was alone as her husband had to leave to find care for their young daughter. After returning to the clinic from transporting the patient, Carol completed her shift, clocked out, and went back to the ER to sit with the patient until her husband could return to be with her. Carol couldn't stand the thought of this lady being in pain and alone. It was a small but very kind gesture and I believe is worthy of mention as it demonstrates her compassion as a nurse, the integrity that is second nature, and her commitment to always do the right thing.
