I had surgery on my cervical spine and Caroline was my nurse for 2 of my 3-night stay. My husband stayed with me all three nights as well. Caroline made my husband feel very welcome, well informed as to my care and medications, and what to expect. There was something special about her and the care she provided. She made certain that I was always comfortable and as pain-free as possible. Somehow, she knew before I could even reach for my call light to call her and would always walk through my door! She would often check my pain score. If it was time for my meds, she had them with her! If I needed to go to the bathroom, she helped me. If it was just wanting a popsicle because my throat was hurting, she didn't ask the CNA to do it for her, she just took care of me.
Caroline noticed things with me and took the time to talk and asked the doctor for scripts for meds to help my situation. Examples are getting medications ordered for acid reflex and throat lozenges for my scratched and irritated throat. At night, while Caroline was my nurse, I had the very best care! I never had to wait or suffer while she was my nurse. I felt as though I was her only patient and I was priority one! She must be the best nurse I have ever had and truly was the best part of my hospital stay. I am scheduled for surgery on my lumbar spine and I am praying that I will have her for 3 out of my 5 days they estimate I will be there. She truly deserves this DAISY Award. She is an amazing nurse and I honestly wouldn't be surprised if she already has a collection started of DAISY Awards!
