Cassie is the ideal bedside nurse to emulate. She strives to stay up-to-date and grow in her clinical practice while exhibiting passion for her patients, teammates and organization. Cassie is a blossoming leader who takes pride in her work. She is paving the way for her teammates, not just in nursing at Pineville but also in interdisciplinary nursing.

This past year, she became Chair of AH Pineville Professional Governance (PPG). She has provided guidance and a vision that has surpassed the nursing leadership’s expectations. While taking on the chair position, she has created a foundation that supports professional growth at the unit, hospital, and regional levels. There has been an increase in PPG participation which is a direct reflection of her commitment and passion for shared governance and Pathways to Excellence (PTE).  Cassie organized the first PPG Palooza, which offered tools to unit-based councils on ways to be successful in their roles and shared decision-making processes. She invited keynote speakers and offered mini-workshops. She is also a member of the PTE task force, bringing her enthusiasm and voice to the frontline team and modeling a culture of nursing excellence.

Cassie functions in the charge nurse, preceptor and virtual nurse roles. She is heavily involved in quality metrics and presents action plans to leadership to counter barriers. She co-chairs the unit's practice council, continuously recruits new teammates and encourages engagement, and creates a space where all belong. She collaborates with multiple disciplines throughout the hospital, working with infection prevention, Pineville's Sepsis program, and pulmonary care and bringing key initiatives and information back to the team.
