Catherine

,
RN, MS, CWON
Cate is the clinical educator and wound care RN at BHIP. She makes an unbelievable difference in our patients' experiences and outcomes in the most positive way. She collaborates with physicians in ways that impact the patient for the better and always advocates for them when they need it most. She establishes a special connection, building bonds and gaining their trust with our most fragile and scared patients when they have undergone something as traumatic to their body image as a new colostomy, or difficult wound.
When they are often most afraid and can't see anything past their wound. Cate is dedicated beyond measure and has often followed up with patients in their own homes when they are panicked missing a supply or just desperate for some reassurance that they can do it.
Cate is also a champion supporter of our nursing staff and helps support their growth and development by keeping them on track with new educational requirements or learning events to help them grow. She does everything in a quiet and calm manner and her efforts can go unnoticed because she easily handles things with such calm and grace. The nursing staff appreciates her and believes she is deserving of this DAISY Award.
