Catherine is a nurse that is always going above and beyond whether it is for her patients or co-workers. Catherine is always working around the unit to increase patient satisfaction and making it a better place to work. I love her cheerful spirit and how she is always decorating our floors for the holidays. Patients love it too! I know if I ever have questions or need help with a patient that I can go to her. She is an awesome team player. Catherine has lots of experience, which is helpful on the floor. For example, she was in charge that one particular day. It was during lunch, so she was helping to cover the floor while several RNs were eating. One patient called out and said she was bleeding and "just didn't feel good." Catherine acted quickly but calmly to assess the patient and figure out what was going on. The patient was actively bleeding internally and from her JP drain. The patient's systolic BP dropped to the 60's and 70's. Catherine acted fast, along with another nurse to get the surgeon and Rapid Response on the floor, to get fluids infusing, labs drawn and the patient transferred to ICU. It was because of Catherine's experience and knowledge that she was able to stay calm and act quickly. Catherine, you are an awesome nurse. Thank you for everything you do. We love you!
