I drove 8 hours from Oregon to see my mom at Marshall. On arrival, I found out she was in comfort care. The nurse, Catherine, immediately met me and talked with me about what was going on. She could see I was upset and offered me a hug. Two other staff members asked if they could help in any way and offered me food and something to drink. They checked on my mom and me often. Even though my mom was not responsive, all three ladies talked to my mom and told her what they were doing. I was playing music for my mom, and Catherine sang along. My mom passed in December. I was alone throughout this 12-hour process, and the support of these three ladies, particularly Catherine, and the respect they gave my mom got me through; I couldn’t have asked for a better experience in this horrible situation.
