Cathy Beck was nominated by a Unit Secretary who has worked with Cathy for only three months. “Cathy always double checks everything and has no problem asking questions when needed. She is very patient with all her patients. When she is with them they have all of her attention. She is kind and considerate no matter how many questions or requests they have.”
Cathy started at Hamilton County Public Hospital on August 20, 1990 on the Medical Surgical unit. I have worked with Cathy for about 19 years, during which time I have witnessed her providing unwavering devoted care to the patients of Hamilton County Public Hospital.
Cathy has integrity and a strong work ethic. She is a role model and mentor, responsible for orientation of quite a few new nurses. Cathy has earned respect from her fellow co-workers by promoting positive working relationships. Cathy is known for her singing and faith. On Sundays, Christmas Eve and Christmas, Cathy sings a cappella to her patients. A recent patient family member asked Cathy to come to her mother’s room to sing Hymns with them as they held hands as her mother passed. Cathy stated, “It’s just a blessing for me…I think it is so important to spend time at the bedside.”
