5B has won the Daisy Award for Extraordinary Nurses for the second month in a row. The winner this month is Celsa, Flores, RN.
Celsa was nominated by her managers Helen Castro and Christine Yalong. While the manager was performing a routine chart review she saw that while Celsa was cleaning a patient she noted a hard mass in the patients rectal area. She documented that she notified the MD and tests were ordered right away. The colonoscopy with biopsy revealed a colonic adenocarcinoma. Patient had immediate surgery and recovered without complications.
