I was on the 5th floor with my husband after a colon resection. By the 3rd day, his bowels and intestines were still not awake, so they decided to go with a G-Tube. This was the worst experience ever, for the both of us! When shift changed at 7 pm, our nurse brought in Chance from ICU! He not only has the heart of Jesus but when I looked in his eyes, Jesus was there too. He talked both my husband and me out of panic mode and into a sense of calmness. When my husband had trouble with the tube 3 hours later, he called the doctor and got it removed. He had my husband calm and walking before I could return to the room! Chance stood outside the room with me for 10-15 minutes and explained everything to me until I was calm and understood why the procedure was done. Chance gave us both such a sense of peace, which is exactly what we needed that night. He was called back to ICU a couple of hours later. Chance came in to tell me he was going back and it had been a pleasure and honor to meet us and help us through the ordeal!
Chance will never know how much of an honor and a blessing he was to us. His face had been implanted in my heart for the compassion he had in those hours with us. I have even wondered if he was an angel that was sent here just for us and maybe doesn't even work here! I hope he does because I think no one deserves this award more than he does.
