Being told my husband and I would soon be having a 34-week old preemie was a scary moment in the birth story of our son. Although we had many great nurses during his stay in the intensive care nursery, Chelsea Beck made the entire experience less scary.
Immediately I felt like our son was being cared for by family. Chelsea was phenomenal in educating our family on handling a 5-pound preemie. She presented every opportunity for us to participate in his care, from bathing to changing tiny diapers and even taking his temperature.
The moment I was most thankful for with Chelsea was the evening I was discharged from the hospital, but my son had to stay in the NICU. Despite the fact that I was being discharged at shift change, and no one is allowed in the NICU during shift change, she wanted me to come in and tell our son good night, and that I would see him tomorrow while receiving a big hug from her.
Having such a talented and caring nurse as Chelsea taking care of our son made leaving the hospital more comforting.
