There have been several unique situations where Cherelle's observations and persistence have directly resulted in improved/ optimized care and outcomes.
Cherelle received two nominations:
We had a brand-new staff member, on their very first day at work, experience an atypical medical emergency. The symptoms being presented were extremely vague and without knowing this person's baseline it was hard to discern what was going on. The nurse who was orienting this staff member, Cherelle, caught on that something wasn't right immediately and brought it to the attention of leadership. Cherelle then continued to work with this staff member and assess the situation while doing so. When symptoms arose again, Cherelle notified nursing leadership in real-time and then compassionately approached the staff member with her concerns. Cherelle was an example of professionalism and compassion while explaining to this staff member what she was observing and what her concerns were all while ensuring the staff member was understanding the information she was being given. Cherelle went above and beyond by offering to drive the staff member to MGH ER and contact her family. She continued to follow up with her in the following days to ensure she was okay. What I personally witnessed when Cherelle was interacting with this staff member can only come from a highly skilled nurse who has real compassion and empathy for all people, coworkers and patients alike.

Cherelle's assessment skills have resulted in significant and unexpected changes in care for her patients. She is a tremendous asset to MGB Healthcare at Home. Her direct communication allows for quick and effective intervention. There have been several unique situations where Cherelle's observations and persistence have directly resulted in improved/ optimized care and outcomes. Simply put, Cherelle is a phenomenal nurse.
