Cheryl always has a special way with patients in the spiritual avenue. She always goes the extra mile to comfort her patients and to advocate for the best of the patient. One patient stands out to me that she reached out to the family and explained the poor outcome in a way they could understand. This certain elderly patient had a poor prognosis but the family was trying all they could to keep the patient alive. The patient was definitely suffering in pain and was uncomfortable. The family wanted every intervention done to their loved one. Cheryl called the family and explained every detail that was causing pain to the patient. Cheryl was able to get hospice consulted and accept the patient. The family seemed in denial that their loved one was tired of fighting. Cheryl prayed with the patient and comforted them in a special way. The patient was transferred to hospice and passed within a short time on the unit. Cheryl knew how to comfort the patient and was able to get through to the family but never feel demanding. I would want Cheryl to take care of my family any day and in any situation.
