She immediately assessed the situation and did what needed to be done. She brought a calming presence and did everything she could to comfort my mom and me.
My mom was admitted to the ER in the early morning. She was bleeding from a suspected ulcer and was in severe pain. She came in via ambulance and was covered in feces and blood. It was very scary. Several people tended to my mom right away, but the minute Chrissy came into the room, the atmosphere changed from panicked confusion to a feeling of support and control. She immediately assessed the situation and did what needed to be done. She brought a calming presence and did everything she could to comfort my mom and me. Chrissy set out to quickly clean up my mom so she would feel better, although I think she did it more for my sake. Since my mom was in so much pain, she didn’t care about the mess. She was so gentle, and you could see her love for others in every movement.

When units of blood needed to be brought in, I knew I’d have a hard time due to an experience I had years ago. I was worried about that, but Chrissy was so funny in the way that she did things, I immediately relaxed. She spoke to things in the room as though they were members of her care team rather than objects. For example, when the blood wasn’t dripping as it should, she was like “What’s the matter, buddy? Why aren’t you going where you’re supposed to?” That took me out of my past trauma and totally changed how I viewed the situation.

My mom was also complaining that her leg hurt. Chrissy said that didn’t seem normal to her and called for an x-ray, which showed that she had also broken her hip. Had she just blown that off because of the other issues, that would not have gotten treated as quickly as it did.

Chrissy made such a difference. She really cares about everyone who crosses her path, whether it's a patient, their families, or even her coworkers. She is truly kind, as you can tell, it's not just a façade she puts on. I’ve never met a more compassionate and empathetic person. If anyone should be honored and thanked, it’s this wonderful lady!
