While everyone was wonderful during my stay at WAWP, Christie was amazing. She was my nurse during labor and delivery of my daughter. I told the team I had a hard labor and was a level 4 tear with my previous delivery and was anxious with this one. She made sure to really explain everything to me, my husband and my mom in clear terms, usually before we even had to ask the reason why. Christie empowered me to listen to my body and express when I felt ready to push or was uncomfortable or just needed a listening ear. I felt way more in control and prepared to give birth to our daughter. You could tell that she came with many years of experience and it really showed. Not only was she kind and compassionate to us as the parents but she made sure that the student nurse also understood what was happening. It has been 2 months since I had my daughter and my family and I are still talking about how great she was! But I will say one of my most cherished memories was when she took an extra set of footprints and put a "Big Sister" sticker on the page so that our 3 year old would have something to take and share with her class. She knew that our family was disappointed that our daughter couldn't be with us since it was cold and flu season and the hospital had a strict policy. I had not been away from my oldest for more than a night and we all were really missing her. When my husband gave our girl her special keepsake to announce her little sister's arrival, she just squealed and couldn't wait to show it off. Christie made our whole family feel loved and seen. I just want to say thank you for doing the job you were truly called to do.
