She is a huge part of the success we see in patient outcomes as she leads the team to promote positive changes in practice.
Christie is an amazing nursing leader for the education department. As our manager, she not only supports our professional role and career development here in the hospital, but also supports us on a personal level. I had been a new employee in my role for only one month when my husband tragically passed away. Christie was an amazing support system for me when I returned to work both personally as I navigated through my loss and grief, but also professionally as I learned and adapted to my new role and position as well. She assisted me with new projects and programs I was developing for new nursing staff and also supported my need for adapted hours as I adjusted to my new life and personal responsibilities.
Christie is the epitome of the values of Essentia Health. She expects nothing less than quality service and performance from all of us in the education department. She definitely models this value in her own practice. She respects all of us and the work that we do allowing us the autonomy and accountability to use our own clinical expertise to enhance educational programs and courses for Essentia Health staff. Christie guides and assists as needed and definitely supports a team atmosphere. She coordinates an annual team building event in which educators spend the morning on professional development, and the afternoon is spent engaging in fun, team activities.
Christie is largely in charge of all education that comes through the hospital. She helps to coordinate onboarding of new staff, continuing education offerings, new programs (residency, interns, CNA program, etc.) and also in-services for changes in practice (beds, IV pumps, new devices, CAUTI initiatives, etc.) to name a few. She is a huge part of the success we see in patient outcomes as she leads the team to promote positive changes in practice.
I truly enjoy my new position and have really grown into my role largely due to the mentoring of Christie. We share an office as well, so I can truly speak to the amazing person she is both in her role as the education manager, but also personally. She truly cares about each and every one of us and the population of staff and patients we serve. Please consider Christie for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award. I couldn't think of anyone more deserving.
