Christina made my daughter feel better, allowing her to feel like a human and improving her day.
My daughter and four other friends were part of a group of about ten people walking across the street when they were struck by a distracted and speeding driver. Her boyfriend passed away due to his injuries, and my daughter sustained a broken back and knee injuries. She is now paralyzed from the belly button down. This has been extremely challenging and life-altering, both physically and mentally. Christina was her nurse for two consecutive long weekends while she was there and on our last day as well. We were at Grant for 20 days. She was amazing! She went above and beyond to care for her, taking time to listen to her concerns and worries. She even brought some of her own items from home to give my daughter a "spa day," washing and blow-drying her hair multiple times. Christina made my daughter feel better, allowing her to feel like a human and improving her day. They clicked; I joked and told her I swear they could be sisters. My daughter kept referring to Christina as her "Earth Angel," and we will forever be grateful for the care she provided. She addressed all our concerns and catered to everything we mentioned. She ensured that we received answers and that we were taking care of ourselves as well. I can not say enough good things about her. Words I would use to describe her are compassionate, caring, kind, extraordinary, considerate, passionate, and all-around amazing! She will always hold a special place in our hearts!

Working alongside Christina is truly remarkable, and I learned that in December when she and I had a patient who became a new paraplegic with a very difficult and emotional story behind her reason for being a patient at Grant. Christina cared for this patient from the day she was admitted to our unit until the day she was discharged, and even when she returned a second time. The patient always requested Christina. She ensured she took the time to wash this patient's hair with her shampoo and conditioner, brought her own hair dryer from home to dry and style the patient's hair, assisted with shaving, and applied the patient's makeup. One day, she even bought food for the patient and me, and she engaged with the patient and her family not as a coworker but as a friend. Christina was there when the patient felt emotionally exhausted; she held her hand and listened as the patient poured out her emotions and feelings about her situation. Christina truly goes above and beyond, not only for patients but for coworkers as well. On a day when I was feeling emotional and needed reassurance, she called to check on me, came to speak with me, and reassured me that everything was okay. Christina is an amazing nurse and now a friend to me, and I am so glad I get to work alongside her. She truly helps me at a moment's notice with anything I need. We are so grateful for a nurse like Christina.
