Christina provided reassurance and assistance amidst the chaos the OR presented to us.
We had arrived at LDR earlier than expected for our already early twins. Both of us were extremely stressed and anxious about the arrival of our babies. We were woken up after only about half an hour of sleep and informed that we were being moved from antenatal monitoring to being induced in the LDR. When we arrived, Christina was very positive and eager to help us welcome our babies, but my girlfriend was far from excited. Christina quickly read the room and offered us various amenities to make us comfortable. Almost immediately, she attuned to our feelings and ensured we were at ease by answering every question, even those we hadn’t thought to ask. Her shift ended only a few hours after she started with us, and she mentioned that she would be working that night and hoped to see us again. After a long day of induction and anxiety about the delivery’s outcome, Christina returned to us at 7 pm, and knowing she would be with us again brought us great comfort. You could tell that she genuinely cared. We were all on a first-name basis, and she remembered the babies’ names, demonstrating her commitment to closely monitoring them, even amidst the challenge of keeping both of them on track.

As we approached delivery, she made sure we were informed about everything that would happen in detail. Christina told us that our delivery would be in the OR out of an abundance of caution, ensuring us that our preferred delivery method would remain the priority. When delivery drew near, Christina immediately recognized it and began preparations in a calm, professional manner that soothed both of us. When the babies’ mother was brought to the OR, I had to stay back while they prepared the room. Christina reassured the mother that I would be in the room shortly, which calmed her significantly. Upon entering the room, Christina provided reassurance and assistance amidst the chaos the OR presented to us. All the staff we encountered in LDR that night were exceptional, including the delivering doctor, the NICU doctors, our day nurse, and our nurse who worked alongside Christina and us, but Christina was truly outstanding. She was our rock. In just 24 hours, the connection we formed with her became incredibly strong, and we hold nothing but profound appreciation for her and all the amazing people who guided us through this journey. Yet, when we reflect on who we needed most with us throughout this experience, it was her; she saved the day repeatedly by keeping us calm and informed. On a night filled with diverse and intense emotions, she was our beacon, and we would have been lost without her. Thank you so much, Christina, and to all the incredible professionals who assisted us in bringing our beautiful baby girls into the world. From the bottom of our hearts, we will never forget that night and what you meant to us.
